Straight truck owner operator trying to be

    I am thinking about being a owner op in a straight truck but don't even know how to get started if it's a good idea I have had my cdl a for 2yrs now I started out with a small company outta school hauling a 8 axle heavy haul and have had a couple jobs since but would really like to drive my own straight truck and support my family and be able to put my son through college I don't have a lot of money but I have some and I would like to get on with a carrier like load one but any information from somebody on here that started out like me would be very helpful haven't been on here for a year but I always have gotten good advice thank you very much in advance on any info or tips to get started as well as things to look out for I live in metro Detroit

    If you have a class A and experience why a straight truck? Years ago you could buy one, write expedited on the side and get rich but that ship has sailed for the most part. Lots of competition in that market so the rates dropped hard. Not much better with a big truck but it's easier to get them loaded.
