[SIZE=-1]Grapevine High School senior Anjali Datta holds the highest grade-point average of the 471 students graduating from Grapevine High School this year.
In fact, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD officials believe her GPA of 5.898 may be the highest in the high school's history.
It's still not enough to make her the valedictorian, which brings a one-year college scholarship from the state.

That's just plain wrong. She earned it, she deserves it.
I HATE BEAUROCRACY!! -
That wasn't what I was expecting
I assumed it was because she was gay, pregnant or a cross dresser
I actually think they made a good stand for all the kids and even us
She did not put in the time or hard work the other kids did
What she will learn is that hard work and putting the time in is as important as being gifted and flying through school -
I agree, just because she finished early, doesn't mean she should not be eligible for the top honor..
-
No, what she'll learn is that the rules don't apply equally to everyone. And who's to say that she didn't work hard and put her time in? Maybe she spent her time studying, rather than hanging at the mall and playing X-box.

There is a big difference between three and four years
Yes she worked hard, thats true
But she will learn that rules are rules
I just wish people like Brittany Spears and such would have learned thatLast edited: Jun 20, 2008

I don't see what the difference is. If she was smart enough/worked hard enough to finish early, I thinks it's wrong to punish her for it. Or to reward someone else who didn't "win". What kind of message is that sending out?
And, like the article said, define the "4 years". Is that 4 calendar years, or the equivalent content/credits of 4 school years? If we're talking calendar years, I don't see where that would have a thing to do with anything. If the girl can do HS in 3 years, then good for her. Reward her and let her go on with life. But don't pull some BS rule out to deny her after she worked her tail off. -
Maybe thats a good way to look at it
Life is not all black and white
So learning to make adjustments is good also
Hope I can get my boys to just pass, then I would be a happy dad LOL -
Good Lord, ain't that the truth...

The thing is, she DID four years work! She started high school work while in Jr. High!
