I have Verizon and am often frustrated with West Virginia, parts of Virginia, the skinny west part of Maryland, and pretty much all of Missouri. I understand that in the mountains it's a miracle ANY service will have great coverage, but Maryland and Missouri puzzle me: If I'm in southern PA my signal is strong, but magically vanishes completely as soon as I hit the Maryland border, and Missouri I have no clue, unless some weird politics keeps Verizon from extending into there.

Verizon is best in rural areas but look at paying $120 a month on a plan. I'm thinking about going to prepay plan that uses verizon. Such as straighttalk.

I have no real problems in Missouri as long as I'm on major routes.
Even the town I live in has 4gLTE.

Verizon network or not prepay plans are not the same.

Last year broke my phone. So I temporarily got a Flip Phone on a prepaid Verizon plan, I was dropping calls where my contract phone would not.

Although that may have just been due to a crap quality phone, the reality is Verizon DOES roam on other networks a lot more than people think they do! When it's a actual "Roaming partner" you'll never know your actually roaming so people make the assumption that it's still Verizon. The only way to catch it is to dial *2 and you'll be sent to the actual carrier your on. Verizon has a ton of coverage gaps in mountain-y places as it's not worth the money to build in those areas most of the time, especially if Verizon isn't the phone company there. Also, if your in an area that US Cellular services your most likely on them, not Verizon. They even roam on Sprint more than you'd think. Here in VA as well as in NC and parts of WV they roam on nTelos all the time in rural areas. Verizon does a good job hiding it. The other thing people don't realize is how much inter-roaming goes on between AT&T/T-Mobile and Verizon. People automatically assume it's not possible but due to smaller carriers being bought out by them in many area's they left the old carriers system up and running simply for roaming revenue (well worth it) Verizon has a crapload of GSM sites throughout the country up and running even though their own phones won't run on it.

I will have to say it depends on what you do with your cell phone. I tryed everything besides ATT which I find very expensive.

Verizon has very good coverage but if you watch netflix as I do ..... DON'T .... You will pay over 200 a month! T-Mobile will let you down when you need it the most. Sprint still has unlimited data on the phone (so if you have a big enough phone or if you can broadcast from the phone to the TV you can watch movies while off duty and the coverage is not bad.

Cell phones are more a bargin and a compromise and there is no way you can tell which is the best.

    Hope it helps

Verizon seems to be the best but my bill for our three phones nearly doubled from what it was with sprint. It works almost everywhere though and often sprint didn't.

Best coverage I got was a pageplus(the service provider) lg model prepay phone. They actually sell the minutes at the counter of the flying j.
A lot of the managers don't even know they sell them and i had to walk them thru it at the register (they print it out there)

The best low cost option out there it actually picks up every carriers towers believe it or not & works in Canada and Mexico for $45 a month unlimited talk.
