I saw that one on eBay as well. However i've always thought it was best to mount on the drivers side for reception and less prone to tree impact and the like?

I was taught to use the truck as a ground plane and put the cb antenna on the right mirror, and that seemed to work for me but many don't agree with the theory.

Right side does take more of a beating with obstructions. One guy had a co-phased setup with left side on the mirror and right on the door, but he left.

Left side on divided streets in the city gets beat on pretty badly, too. Ice from freezing precip and fog seems to do the most damage in my experience.

    Update on this...

Got the antenna installed all setup. Antenna warning problem solved, SWR just a hair over 1 on all channels according to the radios meter. Still will stop by a shop and let then peak and tune it, but so far so good! Thanks to everyone for the help.

6ft Skipshooter antenna and 18' of Browning coax.

Antenna warning issue was caused by the faulty/poor quality stock freightliner setup. Issue solved with the mirror mount, new antenna and coax

Your skipshooter may not last long. They are awfully limber and flop around a lot. I braced mine using the mirror...so far so good.

THIS!!! this is the only way to get a "decent" range/swr on a cascadia. the mirror mount is just to low and close to the cab to ever get good swrs... and even if you do get good swr its because you tilted your antenna 20 degrees and now 50% of your signal is going into the ground!! When your going down the road and you hear those big radios for 10+ miles... it aint coming from a cascadia driver!

If you decide to go with the mirror bracket don't buy the Wilson brand that the truck stops are selling they are really weak aluminum I bought a stainless steel one from bobs in pa

No it isn't. You just need a long, top-loaded antenna. This means you won't be buying it at a truck stop, you'll be going to a CB shop with a good inventory.

You absolutely cannot get by with less than a 5' antenna on the Cascadia mirror mount. Pilot/J/Love's and most TA/Petros do not have anything over 4'.

I run a 7' Firestik KW7 on the mirror mount and my SWR is 1:1 across the bad, and 1.1:1 on 27.555. It's tilted forward to account for flexing, at speed it stands roughly straight up.
