Does dot require drivers to have a first aid kit? My last job they had them in every truck and they didn't like to spend money so I figured they are required. Thanks

No, no requirement but see no reason not to have at least a small first aid kit, even reefer draggers and dry van droppers need a first aid kit. Little crap happens.

Never been asked to see it by dot but it has come in handy. Mainly consists of bandages for wounds and stuff like that.

LOL,nothing FMCSA does surprises me anymore.Thats probably one of the hidden laws for now and they will make a formal announcement in the not too distant future about first aid kits.

A simple first aid kit is a good idea. I carry a box of various bandages along with gauze and tape. Some type of antiseptic and an antibiotic like neosporin is a good idea. I also carry lamasil because even though I wear shower shoes, I've still gotten a foot fungus a couple times.

Lastly but most importantly; ibuprofen or one of the other pain relievers ! I always have a bottle of Aleve in the bin above the captain's chair. This is a must.

I can't think of a reason not to have a first aid kit. Even a basic one could save a life in the middle of nowhere. Bandages, alcohol, ace bandage, pressure dressing, things like that are better to have and not need.

You said first aid kid, patty. Then straight stacks made a joke about cramming small children into his sidebox. Then you claimed the fmcsa probably has a law ready to implement requiring first aid kids. lol
