The shortage of drivers in our industry will soon be resolved with immigrants who are flooding into our country unimpeded. They'll work for even lower wages and less benefits than are being offered now.

The electorate demands cheap imports brought to the shelves of their local markets when they want it. The corporations via a complicit government have opened the floodgates and I'm afraid we're screwed. If you think I'm wrong, have you made a trip to California lately?

The regulatory side will only increase in my humble opinion...

I'd really like to gross $350,000+ a year and never be over gross/axle, never violate HOS or any other regulations.

Yeah! good driving schools! I went through CFTR in Quebec 6 months training! I owe Canada a lot even if now I am US citizen and live and work here! Total cost out of my pocket 160$ + transportation to get to school every day!

Probably dumb ideas but here goes.
How about an advisory committee of seasoned drivers with 10 or more yrs of recent exp rather than letting the fleet owners call the shots. If fmcsa wants guinea pigs for there studies, we help pick them out similar to jury selection.
When some careless fool kills a bunch of people with a truck he SHOULD face an accountability board of his peers (all drivers) , and of coarse a judge!
Instead of feeding the CDL mills, change things back closer to the way they used to be by certifying a companys safest, most productive senior drivers to train new drivers.
Safe productive drivers make, and save the company money, that should be reflected in the paycheck, and not as some BS safety bonus for jabbing the brakes at the bottom of the hills and concentrating on that speedometer, and the enanny clock...

I saw a thread in here the other day, the driver was complaining about some of the tight spots he had to get into. Local deliveries with a 53'? Company drivers used to get compensated for that, and the money is still there, we never see it! I remember getting paid 15.00 a skid to pickup Imported apples at the pier and haul them 40-50 miles to a cross dock.

    llsnemesis Thanks this.
