An Interesting Situation

Unfortunately those days are gone. Now it's against company policy to stop and help another driver unless it's a medical or major emergency. For instance a driver I know seen a small truck pulled over with smoke coming from under the hood. He stopped to use his fire extinguisher and I guess the truck was still running, anyhow they thought they had the fire out! The hood was popped and the mother went up like a fireworks factory. Needless to say his company was sued for the cost of a new vehicle. It blows my mind that you try and help someone and then they turn around $#!@ you over

 

Nothing new there. I put out a car fire with my extinguisher one time back in the '60's, only to have the owner berate me for doing it. Seemed he wanted it to be totaled for the insurance. Probably having trouble meeting the payments. . .

 

I remember stopping one time on I-65 when I saw a truck on the other side of the interstate that was on fire. Grabbed the extinguisher, ran across the interstate, tried to put the fire out, it was electrical and the extinguisher did nothing, helped him grab stuff out of the truck, then we watched it burn down. In that time I was the only vehicle that stopped to assist. When I got back on the road I commented about it on the CB, and was told, " well driver, you never know when someone will rob you". Really? Yea, dude lit his 80K dollar truck up to hit someone in the head and steal $20. Unbealievable.
