Do you know if the Firestik antenna is more rigid than the Skipshooter antennas? I have noticed as the other guy mentioned my antenna flops around a lot, but I dont really want to vise grip or screw a plexiglass support to the mirror.

A longer antenna mounted lower on a bracket closer to 0 ohms from ground will outperform a shorter antenna mounted on a bracket higher and farther from 0 ohms to ground. Rf and dc potential must be equal for best performance
QUOTE="gascanexplode, post: 4736088, member: 79926"]THIS!!! this is the only way to get a "decent" range/swr on a cascadia. the mirror mount is just to low and close to the cab to ever get good swrs... and even if you do get good swr its because you tilted your antenna 20 degrees and now 50% of your signal is going into the ground!! When your going down the road and you hear those big radios for 10+ miles... it aint coming from a cascadia driver![/QUOTE]

It's been my experience there is no such thing as a plug and play cb radio the swr has to be checked and adjusted or your gonna burn your radio up

I have no idea who made or designed any of the brackets if I remeber right bob has a patent on the design he sales... but the truck stops have recently started selling a cascadia mirror mount bracket that is absolutely junk you can smash it into a ball using your hands that is an exaggeration of course but it does bend way to easily it is a Wilson brand product

image.jpg I went back to Rays in Memphis and told him what I had What I could spend and asked what he recommended. He pulled down this radio. Tuned and red easy to go. I plugged in all the doohickeys in the back. Used the fuse provided and it works really well.

Well you got lucky then, or you are not familiar with how good they can work.
