Bar is locked and pinned in place.
Also using a 1/2 inch chain through the middle as well as 4 ofhers underneath in the center.. then 2 up front and 2 in the rear.
Just got done being inspected at Ga scale. Parked for the night at the Hook in Commerce off i85. Didnt want to risk pushing it through Atlanta and get caught after dark looking for a place to park. 30 - 40 spaces still open here.
Gonna get showers. They have a restaraunt inside called the Georgia Grill. See if the food is any good.

@Hurst you're living the dream.....
Always wanted to do equipment over the road..... I got real close (had a job offer from keen a long time ago) but I didn't take it ......
But it worked out...

I dont know about all that. Everything we dislike about flatbed... multiply it by infinity and you have heavy haul.
The attention I get from folks asking about my loads and other heavy haul guys checking out the 2 pusher axles on the truck... that part is kinda cool. But reality sets in when it comes time to work. Or the monotony of waiting around for permits. Making sure its all legal.. because you are the star quarterback in this segment of trucking. All eyes on you.

I don't understand the big deal about the articulation bar (other then it's the law).. I mean if the front of the machine is chained and the back of the machine is chained that machine isn't just going to articulate. Heck even if the machine wasn't chain down it isn't going to just magically articulate. What a stupid law that is...
I don't see anyone in Ontario using the locking bar or chaining the articulation point IIRC correctly.. I know that when our machines get pickup by the company the guy doesn't do it.. -
Laws have to be stupid because they govern Stupid. There are those of us governed by law, and those of us governed by principle. Decades ago, driving down the highway, when we saw a car sitting on the shoulder, we'd automatically switch to left lane. Why did we switch lane? Principle. 15-20 years ago, we started seeing laws pop up about switching lanes when emergency vehicles were on the shoulder. A law and a hefty fine was set in place for people who are too stupid to switch lanes.
Same thing goes with cellphones. Some of us have used bluetooth headsets for years before the laws came out. But every day, we see Stupid driving down the road with a cellphone held up to his head.
The question is, do stupid laws for Stupid help Stupid or do they hurt Stupid?Old Iron, cnsper, skootertrashr6 and 2 others Thank this. -
Speaking on "Articulation" (Crane Operator and HE Operator), if the machine is chained and binded correctly it WILL NOT move. There are 3-4 maybe even 5 switches that kill all articulation in the machine.
For Hurst: You don't have much to worry about hauling the machine through the states you mentioned as long as your permits are in order, etc. -
Yea I got pulled in at the federal way scale in Tacoma for not having the lock bar in place. I had 9 1/2 Chains on the cat 545 skidder cross chained and there was no way in hell it was going to move but they made me put it in.
