Sorry Hammer but that's misleading. The tires have 100 psi whether the trailer is loaded or empty. Loaded = larger footprint and more pressure on the road compared to empty with a smaller foot print (contact patch) and less pressure on the road.

Don't mistake force for pressure. Of course a loaded truck puts more force on the pavement, but the pounds per square inch doesn't change, the footprint just gets larger.

The force varies with weight, the pressure depends on the psi in the tires. The nerd in me had to make sure that was clear. :D

If this started about no truck parking well it is really off . Wal Mart and other stores that don't want trucks has very little to do with tire pressure or weight per tire. Hog wash. It has to do with several other things. I know the manager of our local Wal Mart I talk to him about this and how it is handled. Store manager decides if trucks or no trucks park on lot. Corp stands behind the store managers decisions .
One is. Far too many drivers are lazy and don't pay attention to their surroundings and park blocking driveways and too close to building. Simply not paying attention to their surroundings.
Two, The tight turning of an empty or loaded trailer is tearing up the asphalt and or concrete. So before you get to correcting, The roads to and from the docks is thicker concrete than the parking lot. Ever see the trailer tires when doing a tight turn? . . Not good for the parking lot , the tires, bearings or the suspension but there is no accounting for stupid most of the time.
The the one that most managers don't like is trash. Drivers of Semi trucks have been video taped tossing bags of trash on the ground then waking into the store right past the trash cans.. Or tossing it on the ground just as they leave., We are more visible to the public and we are therefore targeted.
One that does not happen as often as trash dumping is drivers emptying pee bottles on the pavement in full view of every one.
Any one of these is reason enough to say no trucks. Some Wal Marts have a lot that is just too small to accommodate trucks.

Sometimes drivers park on the side of the road in small towns and run their engine all night next to someone's house. Thanks a lot. Sometimes drivers park on the curve of an entrance or exit ramp making it near impossible to get on the interstate without hitting them. Thanks again.

Thanks to the Penn Turnpike company for finally putting a decent rest area coming into Philly. We need more people thinking like that so we don't have to park all over the place and make ourselves a nuisance.
