Well its probably been this way for a while but why? Why are these reefer companies killing loads out of FL? I was quoted 3 loads out of FL running to NC 600 miles and they quoted me 375 I laughed and said good luck and hung up and dead headed home. Are these reefer companies really taking these dry loads at 44,000 lbs for that little money and killing any money to be made out of FL? If so why it won't even pay for fuel to get you out of there. Seems to me if we stop booking the loads that cheap they will have to raise prices and that seems to be best for all. What am I missing?

Changing of the tides. In theory, money is money.

Its disheartening to say the least.

I think some people have more money than they know what to do with. I've turned down a dozen loads in the last two days for cheap rates and yet they jump off the boards 15 minutes later.

I have been turning down loads left and right cause they were paying 1.50 mile but .60 a mile that is a new low even for FL and the thing is when I laugh at the broker he chimes back I will get it booked for that and that is sad cause you know he has at least 2 per mile on the load he is getting paid. We hold the cards if they want it hauled and we stop taking loads that cheap they will have to get it right.

Yep they will move it for 60 cents a mile. A month ago they were begging for trucks. That train is long gone.

While I'm sure there are some brokers raking it in right now, the vast majority are competing against each other and are getting their usual percentage on smaller and smaller sums.

The thing with FL that I don't understand is two fold: first, we know rates out of FL are generally beat down so bad you might not even cover driver+fuel, so you need to factor that into your rates going into FL. We unload Monday morning and Tuesday it's either Savannah or Atlanta where we load back to TX and I don't have to bend over for anybody, and I'm not bending anyone over, either. Next load.....
