Conway Freight questions.

There are a few guys at my terminal that went thru the Con-Way school. I don't know the details of the school, but if you can get in, do it. I got my CDL, got a crappy OTR job, then got an OK OTR job, and then Con-Way. I would have loved to have been able to skip the crappy jobs and went straight to Con-Way.

 

Freight is so slow in my barn that I'm on my 4th CC day in two weeks. I don't have any more PTO saved up to continue this. I have been taking the CCs because it's the only way I will get 8 hours right now and I get paid at a higher rate. I've done everything but pull the trigger on a job going back OTR for more money. I figured they'd be laying people off by now. Unless something changes I won't be here much longer.

Anyone else this slow?

Where is it that slow?? We have experienced little or no slow down.....even though it's obvious that the freight has slowed.....I run L/H and the FAC's are dead.

 

Freights down 20percent for everyone. Fed ex I run with pulling mty's almost every night. It's not just us.

 

My terminal is interviewing drivers. We're busy now, but I'm not sure what happens when we slow down for winter.

 

Thanks so much for letting me know...I just had an interview with Holland ...dock to driver program. Any thoughts on Holland?

 

The local Holland terminal has a "hiring drivers" sign hanging up front for about 2 years. The drivers I run into don't seem happy with the job or company. It's a job and will pay the bills. Beyond that, I don't know much about them.

 

Cool, I will start with them -dock worker to driver program...hopefully all goes well...
