You sound grumpy! If you don't like trucking get out of the industry, don't discourage someone else.

I would love to follow your process. I'm thinking about getting a truck from lone mountain also but I will be leasing it onto my current company.

I remember about 10 years ago my dad told me truckers are their own worst enemy because as soon as you turn around, out comes the proverbial knife.

People always say the younger generation are lazy and never stay at a job long. I say the issue is the companies. They could give a #### about you or anyone else that works for them. My grandfather spent almost his entire working life at one company (35+ years as a fuel hauler for them) because they actually valued the people who worked for them for the most part. He told me he was starting to see a shift in the wrong direction in his last few years before he retired in the early 90's.

I am a BCO with Landstar. It appears to me that their business model is to have your truck paid for with no truck payment. If you do have a truck payment it better not be big. And you will want $10-$20K in the bank. If you cannot meet these requirements then you better do a mileage lease until you're set. Check out Kevin Rutherford for good info on how to get started with owning your own truck.

I am increasingly leery of the post 2007 EPA engines. The 2012 Coronado I had with DPF/DEF Cummins ISX was by far the worst truck I ever owned. Constant emissions system problems, and ultimately wound up getting a new engine after I gave it back and walked away from the lease. The truck only had 65K miles on it.

be the change you want to see. you people talk unity this, good old days that... And then trash people who are trying to get into the business and end up going through one of the crappy mega training companies. Theres no "unity" mostly because it's easier to whine and play the victim than it is to do anything helpful or productive. Think about "unity" next time you talk #### to someone in a company truck.

edit- if it were me, i'd be looking at the cascadias/evo. You're already taking a pretty big risk on a lease, might as well go with a 'safer' option... one that gets better fuel mileage to boot.
