I've seen very view reports about the slingbox, some for some against. Pretty sketchy tho. So I would like people to sound off if you will.

I've got one sitting at home. Unless I was in an area that had VERY fast connection speed....the quality sucked. And if you were connecting below 500Kbps....forget it.

Now, I've got the VuQube....works great.....MOST of the time. Need to get me one of those satellite boxes that can pick up ALL the sats and channels tho. Not having access to the sats in SOCAL is my biggest complaint with it....the unlocked sat box will do the trick on that problem tho.

we love ours, you do have to have good internet speed to watch. but with our sprint card this usually happens when we are close to a metro area.
its cheap and there is NO fees once ya get it...

Except for the fact that you have to maintain and internet AND cable/sat. connection at home.....

We got the VuQube.....and it works great!

Another item....you need to test your UPLOAD speed at the house. If your not running at least 256kbps upstream.....it won't work. I had a 10mbps download and 1.5mbps upload at home.....but, like Globetrotter said....works good in LARGE cities with EVDO/A signals. And there are a LOT more areas where you have less signal than in large cities. That's why we got rid of it......Made my daughter mad when I cut off that big data pipeline at the house too.....:biggrin_25523:
But, then again..... Sprint has put a limit on their bandwidth now....they are just like everybody else now....Hmmmm I guess it's back to Verizon when this contract runs out. It really doesn't take long to stream 5GB on the Slingbox either.

as i sit here trying to watch ICE ROAD TRUCKERS via my air card, the feed is very streammy, takes a lot of patience to watch these clips.

i think the pole mounted sat dish is in order.

I think this is what kills it for us. I have a high def usb tuner for my laptop that I hook up to an external antenna on my truck. I was in N Chicago and pulled down 30 channels. All 4 networks plus a few others. Its not cable but for a 60 investment I was able to find something to watch near a city. High def looks real good in the truck on a 15 inch laptop screen
