CRETE CARRIER

I think any company running the newer , pollution reduction equipped trucks is gonna have dependability issues. Internationals seem to be the most problematic. Of course Crete is gonna try to run them. They bought hundreds, if not thousands of them . The resale value on them sucks. So they gotta try to get some use out of them.
My first Crete truck had a flat top 48" sleeper. Little Detroit that was sickly, probably didn't even put out 300 hp. No jake break. Broke down about 7 times. I was consistently in the top 5 for miles at the Spartanburg terminal. I got a new truck after 18 months. The old truck had 673k miles when I turned it in. As a new driver, I expected to drive an old truck. Never asked for a new one.

 

Many of us have been there but you got a bad run of trucks. It happens.

My previous company I had 4 trucks the last 6 weeks I was there. DPF/SCR issues. Clutch brake. Starter. ECM. More emissions issues. Rear differential.

This was after I went on vacation and they told me don't worry we'll keep the truck local and it'll be here when you get back. The same day I parked the truck they cleaned it out, boxed my stuff up and gave my new truck to someone else and started sticking me in junk. I never got half my stuff back and missing $500 worth of tools. I started looking that day. 6 weeks and 4 junk trucks later I was gone and never looked back and with a really good private fleet now where those things don't happen.

The truck with the bad starter they left me sitting in the fuel island in eaton, oh for 15hrs because 'there's nothing wrong with that starter we just replaced it 100k ago'. Really? Why am I sitting here then ?

It's not just Crete. Many of us have been there.

 

Unless I'm broke down at a terminal, which have their own local hotel.... I picked what hotel or motel I stayed at, they never cared about price.
And not to sound pro Crete, as I often wonder if they only hire ####### in Lincoln, or if that's all there is in the whole town.
