Is it a bad idea to call a recruiter to find out? And how long should you wait before calling? I'm just eager to get my husband started so he can be home more. Going 6-7 weeks without seeing him really, really sucks! I want him out of the oilfield! We live an hour southwest of the Dallas terminal, so we figure he'll be able to get through the house fairly easily.
How long does it take (Choice)?

I applied to Swift last night about 6:00 and had an offer this morning at 11:45.
-
That's not surprising. If they are desperate for drivers, it don't take long to hear from them.

I have been off the road for 11 years, so I am probably not is a position to get a premium job. I was turned down by Melton. So, the next year my focus has to be safety.Home_on_wheels Thanks this.

My husband has been driving for almost 11 years, accident free! He's got a great driving record, has been a trainer and a supervisor. I may be biased, but he's awesome and I think any company would be eager to have him on their payroll!
About 1 1/2 years ago, he put his resume on one of the truck driving job board things...he still gets calls from companies once in awhile, especially Melton. They wouldn't leave him alone no matter how many times he told them he wasn't interested.

I was told a long time ago that it is better to call to find out your app status rather than waiting for them to call you. It shows them how interested you are in that company. So, bug the crap out of them!!! That's just me.centralmi, drvrtech77, TennMan and 1 other person Thank this.

I feel the same way, hence why I keep texting my husband the number, lol. Eventually he'll get sick of me and just call to shut me up.

I just finished orientation and am currently pulling my 1st load. I applied around the 18th of June, got s call within a few days. Was told would be contacted for a phone interview within 5 business days....which I was. Set up a phone interview....my answers matched what they had regarding my driving record. Was offered to come aboard....told them I wanted to buy one of their trucks so they kicked me over to finance who asked me some basic questions about income and expenses and told me to give them a week to run my credit. A week later my CSM called and basically another interview and she explained the requirements on the different trucks they had...no money down for used...money down for new and what they matched.
From there she put some quotes together based on the truck I wanted and orientation was scheduled based on availability of the truck. For me it was about a 3 week process. I pushed out orientation because I had a vacation planned or else I could have got in sooner.exracer941 and gjcarr03 Thank this. -
He could run Dallas to Houston and be home almost every night. Run 4 days a week and bank about $2k. Seriously...

Also apply for mercer or landstar. Celadon also has a percentage and load board. I used to recommend ats but that program has gone to ####. Roadrunner is another good option and they help u pay for a down payment on a truck. The thing with choice is your competeing with company drivers. Go to a owner operator company only..
