Hey Sharno,
I drove P&D for SEFL out of Punta Gorda, FL (FMY) on the west coast. When I was hired on, I had about 12 years of driving experience, but not a lot of recent TT experience. They started me off with a driver mentor (who was about 10 years younger than me), who I rode with for roughly a month and a half, doing most of the driving while learning the company procedures and policies (there are a lot of them). They also require a week of paid orientation, which is basically classroom work, watching videos, written tests, etc. This company takes safety VERY seriously, and preach it constantly. They will not let you on the road by yourself until your mentor, TM, and safety manager all sign off on you. It may seem like overkill, but it really helps you settle into the job without the stress of being thrown to the wolves right off the bat. If you lack experience, they may require more training, or do a dock to driver program. Every terminal is different and it all depends on how badly they need you on the road.
SEFL is a great company that takes care of it's people, but it is definitely a challenging job!
All P&D drivers are M-F, working anywhere from 7AM to 8PM depending on your route and dispatch time. Hope this helps.

Currently work for Saia WPB, FL but relocating to Saia Jacksonville. Good company in WPB haven't expired Jacksonville. However Southeastern has provided something for me to consider as a driver. Though there is no OT at SELF like Saia offers, SEFL provides growth potential for drivers that may want to look at going beyond driving. Hope this helps.Last edited: Jun 15, 2018
