I'm not doubting you on that one. Around these parts we don't really have that luxury.

Can you private message me the names of a few? Hopefully east of L.A. like Fontana. What do these type of shops charge?
    Thanks

ohh man $1500 is too much unless all supplies are 3M branded. in LA it would be around $300-500 + paint cost. If you chose DuPont add another ~$400.
I am talking about painting. no body work done.

paint was dupont cromabase, base/clear. was also a metalic color paint was $1100 very little body work was done. fixing a few dings here and there still have other material costs besides just paint. still have prep work even if your not doing any body work.

the cost of paint has gone way up in recent years. enough paint for a fullsize pickup/van used to be a few hundred

I'd be worried about paint peeling from a rush job. I expect a lot of time involved removing exterior components and sanding, fixing the dings, that kind of thing takes time. I still say you get what you pay for. There is a lot of man hours in prepping a semi truck and doing it right even if there is very little body work to be done.

the Century was factory painted Dupont Imron 4000(or 6000 im not sure) white color. I think its a single stage paint. it was repainted by original imron white . That Imron is not expensive I think. it's oem freightliner paint.

Thats right! A buddy of mine has ran the paint shop at the local Peterbilt dealer since the 1980's, he says "paints cheap, prep is not" Never heard of a new paint job rollin outta that shop for less than 3500.00 and that would be a color change on a new truck!
