I have been replacing these plugs every few months. This time the plug receptacle on the truck went bad. I decided to go a hard wire route. Should have done this years ago.
There is a plug for the 12 volt recepticle that accepts .250 male quick connects. Going to wire up a fuse and on off switch when I get home

Ahhh I remember those days. Word from the wise. I'm sure you have, but if you haven't, inline fuse it!
-
Absolutely. I just plugged it up to make sure it runs. Have an on off switch from an old inverter I am going to wire on with the fuse.truckon Thanks this.

I figured.... staff member and all. Just didn't wanna see a 'so my sleeper burnt up' thread later on.
bullhaulerswife and truckon Thank this. -
Coleman coolers use 7.5 amp fuses. You can buy the inline fuse holder at any truck stop
truckon Thanks this. -
Very nice. I always used the blade fuses myself. When I was in the oilfield I had a truckfridge and an engel under the bunk. Lotta $$$ spent to keep things frozen haha

You would think Coleman would have resolved this issue long ago.
This has been going on for years. Figures it would take truck driver ingenuity to get it done.Ougigoug, runningfr8 and truckon Thank this. -
I bought one of these Coleman coolers at Walmart and bought the 2 year extended warranty for $8.00. The fan went bad so I cashed in the warranty. They don't want to pay shipping so they give you a gift card for the full amount paid. I got a second cooler and replaced the fan on the first one. After cashing in the second warranty I have 2 cooler for about $16.
Went with the round fuse holder because that's what is in the plugs. I'm a cheap SOBtruckon Thanks this. -
Yeah... Truckfridge was $700... Engel was about the same. Man were they worth it. And a nice tax deduction too.
The truck could be parked for 2 days in 100° heat and everything would stay at a nice 10° and not drain my batteries. -
You would think vehicle manufacturers would come up with a better plug standard. Everything is still based on a cigarette lighter.truckon, joseph1135 and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.
