Swift isn't so bad. I worked for them for a little while. They have lots of things you can do. I worked local for them driving a day cab, home every day. Most companies it's just otr or regional. Swift doesn't have the best pay but they do pay out on time and are pretty good about fixing any pay issues you might have. I don't think Swift deserves most of the flak they get. Stevens and CR England on the other hand.... well, if they call then RUN! I don't know about Western Express. I just thought Swift was cool because they have alot you can do. Say you get bored pulling a van then they will train you in flatbeds! The only thing they are missing is tankers. Also they have lots of terminals so many office positions too. I would recommend Swift to a guy starting out.Lightside Thanks this.

I am starting out in a way. It has been 11 years. My fear is getting stuck with 2 or 3 hundred dollar paychecks. If I can run hard enough it will be OK. Yeah, they get a lot of flak, I think it is usually deserved. I also stop and think that there ARE drivers who have styed with them for YEARS and could go somewhere else if they wanted.machinegunner_240 Thanks this. -
It's those driver facing cams, minimum wage training pay and the fleet being mostly manuals that gets me. That and I keep reading hate after hate but must just be the name.

Like I said, they aren't the best paying but they don't screw with your pay or try to do shady stuff like a whole lot of other companies do. You definitely won't get rich working for Swift but compared to the other mega fleets out there they aren't too bad. Spend afew months with them and move on. After about 6 months on the road you'll have more options with more companies.

I had my heart set on flatbedding for Melton, but was turned down. I know that sometimes you have to pay your dues. I did Schneider for a year and hated it. But, then I went to Maverick, and learned to love trucking. That was a long time ago.machinegunner_240 Thanks this. -
I think the important thing to do will to just focus each day and keep my eye on the prize.Lightside and machinegunner_240 Thank this.
