The really sad part is that it was written by Howard Abramson......a former executive with the American Trucking Association. Makes you wonder if he ever actually knew anything about the trucking industry .....or just drew a paycheck for about 16 years.
Panhandle flash, scottlav46 and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
I wanted to wish you the best of luck, dano86, as you begin orientation tomorrow. Remember we are here if you have any questions ......and if you just need to vent some frustrations! Just take it a day at a time, every day will bring you closer to accomplishing your goals.passport220 Thanks this.

Thank guys/gals for the info.
Currently in FL. Drop in the morn.
Interesting ride so far.jdmredneck33 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Good luck to those on the way or soon in orientation. Most have been said over the two threads but just a few thoughts on the process:
- Of course stay Company Driver
- There are no real tests (other than the drug test) at orientation. It is all about just teaching and reminding of things like: Read your road signs (road test). Get out and look (range test). So don't sweet it.
- Be affable with your classmates. Network, exchange phone numbers. Even if it is a person you would not normally make friends with, get on good terms with others so you can exchange mutually beneficial information along the way, into when you are all driving solo.
Hummm...I thought I would have more, guess I am more tired than I thought... anyway, good luck and enjoy!Last edited: Aug 25, 2015

I am again off the beaten path for what my company normally runs. On my way, NJ to Lewisville, KY. Then a swap! My first swap with this company, going to South Carolina. Lucky it is not a 10-30 mile swap like I could get with TransAm, this will be a proper 500 mile run.

Couldn't resist this one, although I think his math is off a bit!! I thought maybe some of you should consider this while you are out there on the highways
dennisroc, jdmredneck33, jaso37 and 4 others Thank this. -
With the rigid corporate culture that wally world has, I'm surprised that the Olney, il dc, is allowed to operate as it does.
Here, you check onto the office to be assigned a door, then after dropping tlr, you call them back to let them know. They must hate having to give that number out, with all the calls they must get.HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Heads up -
Beginning this Friday, 16 states will join forces for the I-80/I-35 Challenge, Border-to-Border Traffic Safety Initiative.
The 3-day, 16-state blitz is a multi-agency, high visibility traffic enforcement blitz that aims to “achieve zero fatalities.” The blitz begins August 28 and ends August 30.
“The goal of both these initiatives is to reduce the potential for serious injury and fatality crashes by increasing officer visibility,” said Colonel Bradley Rice, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “We are proud to join our allied law enforcement agencies in Nebraska and across the I-80/I-35 corridors as we strive for zero fatalities.”
Law enforcement officers from California to New Jersey and Texas to Minnesota will step up patrol on 4,400 miles of Interstates 80 and 35.SRQGhost, Panhandle flash and scottlav46 Thank this.
