I will be going OTR after an 11 year absence in about a month. I started the Atkins diet about 10 weeks ago and I have gone from 297lbs to 218 lbs so far. Are any other drivers doing the Atkins diet on the road? It seems like all convenience foods are carbohydrate rich. I think it will be very difficult to keep doing this on the road. Does anyone have any experience with this?

79 pounds in 10 weeks?? That's over a pound a day for 70 days straight.. My friend you don't need to drive trucks, you should be inspiring fat people all over the country..Congrats on that accomplishment

Thank You, it has been surprisingly easy. I have not done any exercise either. When you eliminate all carbs from your diet, something happens with your appetite. I don't know all the fancy words for it. Well, they call it ketosis. I still feel fat, because I am basically. I think I have lost some muscle, actually I know I have, I feel it. My knees no longer hurt and I can't keep my pants up with out a belt. But, I look in the mirror and still see a fat man.mosstrap Thanks this. -
I've been driving for six years and I haven't gained a pound because I exercise every day. I eat whatever I want (in moderation and with in reason) and feel great. And when I look in the mirror, I see a fit and trim man because I am basically.mosstrap Thanks this. -
The Atkins diet is most certainly not sustainable over the long term. It is a corrective diet and I will start a walking regimen soon. I will also start to introduce some vegetables soon. I have been taking multivitamins as well. The best thing about it is it zapps your appetite and makes your body burn it's own fat.Tall One, whitewings and Dreamboat Thank this. -
There is another post on here about stocking up your cooler/fridge at either wally world or grocery store. You would be able to maintain your Atkins diet until you decide otherwise. If there is a will, there is a way. I found some really cool drinks by bolthouse farms called green goddess that have both fruits and veggies in them(no sugar). 1/2 cup = one serving. So they might be a way to sneak in some of your needed fruits and veggies. I had to go on a soft diet due to getting a molar pulled and came across them. Plus you wouldn't have to have another cooler just to hold your produce in your truck.

Love this post.
You know as well as I do that the Atkins diet IS sustainable. Everyone seems to think Stage 1 is all there us. -
I am curious what your diet consisted of a day and quantities to lose that much weight that quickly.
Could you tell us ? -
whitewings and Dreamboat Thank this.

Wish someone would have told me it wasn't sustainable,I've been at it 12 years now. Lost 130lb in 13 months, the last 30lb taking 4 months to come off.
Cheeseburger without bun, salads, veggie plates, canned chicken, pickles. All kind of things to eat you just need to plan ahead,so you know what the next meal will be.whitewings, peterd and Dreamboat Thank this.
