I reuse the bolts and nuts(if possible) when I change shocks and have never had the holes get messed up.
-
Changed shocks a couple of years ago? For the money spent and the money saved, I've been replacing yearly. The roads aren't getting any smoother.
-
You got that right
-
Actually I felt kind of foolish for changing them. The last time was 2010 approximately 400,000 miles ago. Only 1 out of the 4 was bad but I did go ahead and pick up 4 new ones. Monroes. Good shocks. Probably would be best to get a temp sensing gun from harbor freight and replace them as needed in the future. Just never have gotten one been meaning to for years. Always forget.

Would say steel beside aluminum, steel is going to win. Almost want to say it's planed to sell more parts?
-
How do you think Ford plans on keeping the F150 the best selling truck? Switch to aluminum so the trucks will last half as long.
-
We will check in on that in few years. But it's the F series that they claim to be the best selling vehicle . But F series goes up the F 800. But the best fleet of trucks I have been around were aluminum frame. But everything was bolted solid , not the two metals touching at a ware point. No matter how tight Rolling tightened that bolt it designed as a pivot point, what he has was ether planed , or a dummy designed it. The DeLorion was a stainless steel car, but only the sheet medal was all that was stainless. The boxed frame was bad about rusting out . Besides the engine issues. Will see how the new F150 fairs after 7 to 8 years, in say a logging company. Tossing tool boxes, saws , fuel cans sliding around , all bouncing down a logging road at 35 to 40 mph. Time will tell.

GMC Astro 95 and CHEV Titan 90 had Alum cabs still see a few around and not in bad shape
-
Not saying it's a bad thing . We just need to see if it was done right.
FLATBED Thanks this.
