If you're truck is not fast enough, you're not going to make it all the way across to Hawaii.
Plus there are a few dynamics you must understand to be successful. The dynamics are the same for big trucks as they are for rocks and such.
I Can't Make A Decision. Please Help!

THAT makes sense....I need a faster truck...

Maybe they'll build a bridge to Hawaii soon. Just hope it's doest have a 55 MPH limit, and right lane only for trucks like the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. Can you imagine?
Snowshoes Thanks this. -
It amazes me how drivers will pick what the truck looks like, how fast it will run, and if you look cool up there. HELL, my first truck was a ball of grease with two sticks coming out of it. Pick the truck that fits your program. If you don't have a program by now start making one now. Forget about all the extras you hear about doing this to the engine or truck and go for the safe money making runs. Stay legal so you build your profile in a way that companies want. Once you're on the job for a few months then look around for some specialized work. If your lucky and it's in the yard then go after it even if it means coming in on your own time Ask about which company is going to apply for the contract to haul Nuclear Waste?. There's going to be a bunch of those. Now is the time to play smart and pass all these drivers that are sitting back in a rut.
Father Luke and TankerP Thank this. -
Exactly!!!
I don't give a rat's behind what kind of trucks I'm driving. I came into this business to get paid and earn benefits. If I were in your place and just starting out I'd take that list and throw it in the trash. At .30/mile that list means nothing to me. Get with the company who is safe and legal and won't push you to ruin you driving record. In the future when you're competing with other drivers for that sweet once in a lifetime job, a clean driving record may mean the difference between getting hired or not getting hired. -
Wonder how much the toll will be?

Iwhen I got my new cascadia I was thrilled. It was so nice. I guess I got set up for that though. I turned in a 900000 mile Columbia.

I want a new[er] truck for several reasons. I don't smoke and can't stand a truck that has been chain-smoked in for 3 years and smells like the carpet at a trashy ktitty bar.
I'm operating that truck down the road for 11 hours each and every day. I can't tolerate a wore out, POS that rattles, whistles, shakes, thumps, otherwise makes all sorts of racket every minute it's bouncing down the road.
I can take care of a truck, and to have to inherit a truck that has been abused and neglected for the better part of half a million_+ miles ... I just don't need this crappy job that bad to have to put up with a POS truck on top of everything else. You want the POS truck or think you only deserve or are worthy of a POS truck? You can have it.Last edited: Aug 27, 2015

for .30 to .35 cpm (if they let you run 10K.....wow
) I would think that a POS truck is the least of your worries.....I'd be sweatin' payin my bills!

If it's safe and produces a paycheck I'm on my way. I'll sing to myself to stay awake, after all my wife tells me my singing will wake the dead.TankerP Thanks this.
