1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well today was another good day at work. A couple weeks ago I was trained on the concrete trucks and have made a few runs delivering flowable fill. Today was 11 hours of doing just that.

The job site today was a 500' trench the gas company is replacing and lowering out in the sticks. Normally we only use flowable fill for holes or trenches under an existing road surface. This trench was in what used to be a corn field and will soon be part of the I-69 expansion project.

There's been a lot of protest to that project around here, and evidently last week there were a bunch of tree huggers literally doing just that near the job site. There were some arrests made, and enough of a threat that the site is now a regular part of the state police's regular patrol and they even had an officer there for about 6 hours today "running radar".

Here's a link I found to the story about the arrests:

I'm pretty tired. No matter how much I tried I couldn't fall asleep last night for anything. The last time I looked at the clock it was after midnight, and I got up at 4:30 this morning.

Actually, that thought did cross my mind. Instead I suffered through a rerun of Ice Road Truckers. Boy am I glad I haven't gotten into that show.

Maybe that could be my new job, I could hire myself out boring people to sleep at night.:biggrin_2559:

Well I got rained out today.

Normally I don't get sent home 'cause of rain, but my tri-axle is in the shop.

The company radio in the tandem I was driving today quit working on me while my boss was trying to give me directions. Out of frustration, I chucked the mic up on the dash and cracked the windshield in the process. I told one of the owners to deduct the windshield out of my check. He said he was gonna see how much it would cost first before he did that. I thought that was pretty cool of him.

That little fit might be an expensive one. Then again, it may not cost me a dime. Either way, I was glad the tri-axle is in the shop. Gave me an excuse to come home and put my head in the sand for a little while.

I am glad that you found something you are happy with, and can be home every night!:biggrin_255:
