    Hello All,

    New, like a minute ago.

I have been troubleshooting my trailer tail lights and marker lights for approximately 8 hours now. My signals flasher and brake lights all work.. The lead up, last night, sharp angle and the power supply between tractor and trailer pulled free from coupler on trailer side.. I have since; replaced 7 pin, tried new cable, checked all fuses (replacing 2), traced wires from rear tractor coupler to cab entrance (no power there either), and have started testing relays. I have a 2000 Volvo VN770, the owners manuals are useless..

Simply put, I believe I am headed the wrong direction here. This has to be simple.. Wires touch, something pops, replace that and go. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Looking at a cancelled run here shortly, not something I want to happen.

    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    And everything on truck works.

If I should have posted this in another area, feel free to point me there.

Did you replace both fuses at the junction box up at the front on the firewall?

I wonder if the 7 wire cable possibly got damaged internally when the cable got stretched. If everything was working fine before I would have to say the problem is somewhere between the back of the cab and the trailer. Did you double check to see if you had any loose wire strands arcing out inside the new plug?

That would be no, I haven't been able to find any other fuse locations other than under the CB. i am going to look into that right now. Thank You.

I thought exactly the same because of the tension applied. I actually traced all the way into the cab entrance on the 7 wire strand and found the same result. I also adjusted the length of wire to recess completely into new plug and tightened securely, 3 separate times ;-). I hear what you are saying though and I appreciate it!

Before you cancel the run just hard wire new tail lights in with a toggle switch. All of maybe 10 minutes.

    dc5 Thanks this.

Please excuse my obvious ignorance, but would this be engine compartment or cab?

Wire from battery (fused) to toggle switch. From toggle back to 7 pin connector. Walla.
