The concern here isn't with the outward facing camera that can film other drivers screwing up. The concern is inward facing cameras filming you and maybe your wife. Remember, those cameras are ALWAYS filming. The blue button or triggering event only control when the device saves what it films. If it wasn't always filming, it could not save the "previous" 30 seconds. I recently talked to a recruiter for a company who has cameras. And they do function at night. Another truck hitting you while you are parked will trigger the camera. So somewhere, there will be a video saved of me jumping out of bed in my underbritches to see what's going on. I'd rather not have that video find its way to youtube!

It would be just as embarrassing for the one on the other end caught watching it.

I have the same problem and my company puts the SWIFT cameras into the trucks to film the drivers.

I still have the hope that I fiend a company which puts out an add.

!!!!!!Now Hiring, NO SWIFT cameras in our trucks!!!!!!!

HMF, maybe it s better to dream in the night about this.

Something tells me a comment like that could prove to be hazardous to a dispatcher's health.

Um, I would have to say no. A driver facing camera would be the catalyst of such an event, not the solution to it. :)

These driver facing cams don't only record when hard braking is applied or with the g-sensor goes around in circles. If you ever want to find out if they are constantly recording or not, cover up the lens while driving and see how quickly you'll get sent to a terminal. I agree with some of you, if you don't trust the driver to deliver your fright, don't hire me.

My instructor used some video clips to demonstrate how the cams works and claims how "safe" they are. I didn't sign a waiver for my image to be used. It's like photography, I remember when every photographer went up in arms about others using there photos. Now all photos are copyrighted.
