If you're doing what you're supposed to, you won't have a problem. This is true at my company. I have seen it save two of our drivers jobs. I have also seen a driver get fired for texting and driving, while narrowly missing a car. Do you get "coached"? Sometimes yes but not often, and so you adjust your habits and move on.

I think even this is not a reason to film the driver. A camera which would film the street would be be enough.

I have to disagree if your willing to txt while driving a rig especially a fuel truck you need to go. Besides he was only caught because he braked hard and swerved. And the two drivers that we're saved well they're still hear thanks to it.

I wouldn't condone that type of invasion of privacy. People can use the bad analogy of retail cameras but those are watching a general area and typically moving all the time. That's NOT the same as a camera aimed at your face all day long. In the end there really no way to know if it's an event cam or rolling all day. Can't take the companies word for it thats for sure.

We should get rid of the need for warrants to search people's houses too. If you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about.

So, it sounds like you are probably in a day cab? I still wouldn't want a driver facing camera, but at least you aren't getting filmed on your off duty or sleeper time. And just because you accept the cameras doesn't mean everyone should. There are very real privacy concerns with driver facing cameras. And you are right. The driver your company fired for texting should have been. But it's still not right to subject an entire fleet to that level of scrutiny because one guy MIGHT do something like that. The camera was installed before he did it. So much for the concept of presumption of innocence.

I think You are right. When You don*t do any thing criminal, then for safety, they could install a web cam in to Your bed room also. Then You can proof that You come relaxed to work and that You slept enough and that You don*t come tired to work.
