    thanks for the offer. The tires only had about 25k left on them so I just went ahead and put 8 new ones on and had the truck aligned.

    The rear drive axle was off 1/4" which they said wasn't a lot for a large truck but could have been part of the cause of the tire wear.

    I believe I would check for loose wheel bearings. It is a topic that comes up more and more when there is a tire wear issue, especially on the edges near the frame rail. Bearings and seals now last for many miles. The bearings have got to get a little play in them after a while. I bought the fancy tool for measuring wheel end play. I will update with the miles on the bearings and the end play measurements in the not too distant future.
