    Gary,

I am sorry to here of your legal situation. I hope that you and your lawyer make an example out of this company for others to follow. I am just a driver like you who wants to find (found) a great company, work for 25 to 30 years and retire while I am still relatively young.

I agree with your statement of compensation. I have been a huge advocate of drivers being compensated for all of their on-duty time regardless of the situation. That starts from the time they log in until they log out. I.E pre trip, post trip, fuel, hub miles, loading, unloading, tolls, scales, breakdowns etc.

OTR trucking costs a lot more than this to the driver. How much is a driver compensated by their company for food on the road? They are still in the service of their company, so why not be paid? If I am away from home, I am re-imbursed for motel and food. I have two friends that work at a company that pays for motel and $25.00 per day for food. The best, no. But a whole lot better than 99% of most out there. I hope you noticed that I didn't even bring up toiletries, clothes and other incidentals that the driver is responcible for.

    OK, enough with the obvious,

I checked transco lines website. In my opinion, very vague in terms of driver benefits. Notice I didn't say pay, just benefits. Enough said I believe.

Gary, let us all know how things are coming along and best of luck to you and your family.

    Drive safe

As for Transco lines just don't let Robert Smith lie to ya . He's the one who fired me on FMLA thinks he can do what ever he wants there. He has run a lot of great drivers off with his lies. When ms Zella ran TLI it was a great place to work but she's passed the 70 mark now. She will always be a great woman in trucking.

Ok i read most of this thread and have to say every one missed the boat on this one. Drivers you are your own representative. You have to do your own collective bargaining. And by this i mean you have to say no to the company bull and tell them ok you want me to drive your truck this is what it is going to take Period. Now if every one on this forum went in with that attitude and quit taking what they want to dole out to you. If every one of you will stand up and say enough is enough and not work for the sleazy lying cheating company. and just set home or go do temp work somewhere or flip burgers for a month i guarantee if enough experienced drivers just up and quit and walked out the door when these company's only had new drivers with no experience or fresh out of school with no one to train them they would reconsider there position. Like i told the safety director at a company i used to work for when he told me drivers were .10 a dozen. I flipped him a quarter and told him to get 2.5 dozen if they were that cheap as i walked out the door.

    KD5,

Becoming a martyr is a grand jesture...that almost no one will step up for.
Most companies will say "Don't like it? Keep walkin'."

In the end, people are just people.
They have responsibilites to family & home that martyrdom can't feed.

Junior drivers just starting out are usually under the gun financially.
Not many will take such a noble stance right away...if ever.
    I understand.

Experienced drivers are usually in a better place after paying yrs of dues.
They're not generally inclined to take the chance of loosing it all.
    I understand this too.

What will work is joining or forming a group that can be trusted to do your bidding without unduly jeapordizing your future incomes.

One person going it alone is rarely successful in bucking the system.

After a good nights sleep I woke to realize that I had indeed missed the boat afterall.
That "boat" was not asking Bed where I could send a few bucks his way.

    Bed, I got some slack.
It's not much but how can I get it too you.
