Yeah, don't mash it to floor on every shift and show it a little mercy.
prerunner 404 I looked at that truck today. It has a 12513 in it and the guy couldn't produce paperwork. There was a piece of tape over a 1/2" hole in the pipe just before the turbo. I didn't buy the truck.ThatPartsChick Thanks this. -
I have bought some 13 speed back boxes, from an independent builder, and installed them on 9 and 10 speed transmissions. Just another alternative and may require a different auxiliary gear.

Take a picture of the whole trans from bottom. If it's not one of the real old 10 speeds or the Super 10 it should be possible. Trust me this does not make anything close to a normal transmission that you guys would be used to. But they do work. The steps are going to be off from a normal 13-speed or the ones in an 18 speed because the transmission was made with a certain percentage of steps of 10. when you put the back half on all the steps are going to be bizarre because you're splitting half of a different transmission not the steps for a 10.

Truck is a 97 379 Pete.

If that's a direct drive transmission, the back section with a splitter will only gain you a 15 or 17 percent underdrive. You won't get overdrive out of it, that comes from the front box.
