I agree.. but I'm not as experienced setting these up and what the trailers will support and what they wont.

I just saw open boards over the first 2 axles.. the only cross beam was between axle 2 and 3.

I could put it farther back on the trailer... but not know 100% for certain if that would put me over on the quads or not.. I felt it was best the stretch it one pin to give clearance on the front neck. Else the machine wasnt going to fit.

And yes I agree.. they were a small rural town. Getting out of the driveway was a treat.. still had 2 more turns at rural country 2 lane roads with 4 way stops before I made it to the main route.

    Lesson learned.

Good news is shop call me this morning. My truck is done and ready.

Figures.. trapped under a permit load over a holiday weekend. Wont be able to get my truck till next week. Bleh.

That's quite a set up. Never seen a quad axle setup like that before.

Yeah we'd be using a jeep, tridem bed and booster for that.

Nate980 was that you guys I seen hauling a bunch of oversize components up into Alberta earlier this week?

Most likely. I'm sitting in the oversize pullout in fort Mac right now waiting. Too wet on site so they wouldn't unload us today.

Pretty much the first thing other heavy haulers look at or come up and question me about.

It needs a flip on the neck and it would work much better. The 5th wheel could be slid up a bit more to utilize the 20k front axle.

They way its set up sight now,.. empty and both pushers in the up position I have about 14k on the steers. Soon as drop an axle it takes 2k off the steers. With all 4 on the ground I'm barely 10k on the steers.

With dry pavement its not too bad. But with wet roads and needing to make a tight turn,. the front axle slides. Been a couple times already where I blocked a 4 way intersection because I couldnt make the turn. Had to raise the axles,.. back up the truck,.. cut the corner,.. then pull over,.. blocking traffic some more,.. drop the axles,.. then look for a spot to pull over and let the angry traffic go by.

Some of the routes I've had to take these loads through are insane. My GPS is screaming at me,.. no,.. turn here,.. I curse back,.. but permit people know better,.. I have to soldier on. GPS,.. ding ding,.. turn here,.. road not good for your size. ####,.. you bat ish crazy GPS,.. driving me nuts.

Meanwhile my wife is over in the passenger seat observing my antics with the GPS,.. I explain,.. Oh you didnt know? Yeah me and Lady Di here (The British Emily voice for the Garmin) have this secret love hate relationship. Thats the other woman,.. right there.
