For the next 3 months I will be experimenting with home every week here.
Things I hope to accomplish with this are:
fresh 70 every week (not playing with recap on week 2)
minimum 34 at the house (longer if load permits)
home with a load (trk/ trailer stays at Russellville for hometime)
keeping miles close to the avg I have now

The one annoyance I have on my 2 week out now is the "call" I get when I seem to be home w/o a load attached to me.
I don't mind coming out early on occasion but I have had the call on multiple occasions, I inform them of my pta that was set and leave it at that, I have not been questioned as to why I could/would not help at all but this is something you need to be aware of.

I have come out early to help on occasion but I make it clear I want my quality hometime.
I believe in nipping things in the bud early as to not set a pattern in the future and don't expect that I will jump when asked.

Home every week I think would eliminate that issue entirely but that is speculation at this point.

I monitor/document everything when it comes to my job, I analyze everything (sometimes over analyze) and play out all scenarios.

I have no doubts Big G would be a breath of fresh air for SS

I will be going thru numbers to see what avg length of haul here is but just glancing over my numbers I am thinking in the 450-500 range if that matters to any lookers.
You won't be kept sitting but if you prefer longer haul avgs this isn't the place for them

As long as I am rolling I don't care, pay and miles here are very consistent, not big swings week to week

Loads that have too much time on them I have never had a problem dropping on a yard to stay productive, my dispatcher seems proactive on unproductive loads and will already have a drop planned at times.

I can't really think of many negatives here (I have been trying to)
I am still in the honeymoon stage so time will tell but I don't forsee any surprises coming down the pike

    YMMV

I guess Crete must have forgotten that their most valuable asset was sitting 63 feet ahead. I worked for Shaffer out of Lenoir City. The pay was ok but they treat their drivers like spare tires. Actually i noticed they care more about their equipment then their drivers.

The biggest problem with being out of Lenoir City for me.....was Jeff Hazelwood

Ya I got a strong impression that Jeff Hazelwood did not like truck drivers.
When I first went to work for Shaffer I was impressed. That did not last for long.

I met a big g driver in Newport, TN, the other day. Had his wife and his dog with him. They were great friendly people. Said they liked big g after 2 months. Nice to see people happy about trucking.

Just finished the first month of new bonus program..
    i ran 10542 which received a .03 cpm bonus.

all this while taking regular hometime 5 days total and being held up one weekend at a shipper that closed early. Was paid an extra $100 for that as well as another $50 bonus..

not bad for the first month of the program. These are the miles i usually run every month while taking every other weekend off for 2 1/2 days each.

So if I calculated your miles but based on the starting pay rate(as a new driver), after taxes and $150/wk personal cash the average takehome would be in the $725-$750 range per week counting the .03 mileage bonus(but not counting the extra bonus and extra pay for the customer closing). It this pretty close to an average month there?
