Not sure where to post this but here goes.
I am wanting to know why the snap rings on the slack adjuster would keep breaking causing the adjuster to come loose. Rings were replaced and two days later the slack adjuster came loose again.
any advice as to a reason is appreciated.

Either not seated in the groove or wrong snap rings Im guessing. Never heard of that happening. Was the slack adjuster replaced, and then you started having the problem?
ETA: maybe try a smaller ID snap ring. -
Proper shims and placement

Look on outside of S/cam at drum to see if the snap ring is still in place at outside of washer at bushing where you grease S cam? If missing S cam will be trying to get pushed into drum an the snap ring at adj. arm is taking all the pressure when you press on brakes, S/cam will be pushed into drum and jump off rollers inside drum, then all will have to be taken apart to fix your brake.

What condition are the snap ring grooves on the end of the cam in?

thanks for all the replies, I had never heard of this happening and as brakes being important, I think someone besides me should be trying to fix this issue.
