Im Not one to Post On Forums much, especially about things Relating to myself.
However I'm not one to go into anything Half-####ed So here we Go...

Soon to be 21 Spent the last 3 yrs in and out of the Hospital/Physical Therapy after I was the Passenger in a Severe Wreck (Ford Ranger vs Oak at 50mph... Wouldnt be typing this if not for my Seat belt) ...That left me With Two Collapsed lungs at the time and eventually Caused me to contract Chronic Fibromyalgia.. I Graduated high-school, Albeit With Help From A Very Dedicated Group of Teachers.. Thanks Premier!
Inherited a Small House that's payed for, Payed My Truck off along With My Motorcycle.. See Its not all a Bad Story! ;)

Now Back To being as close to normal as I think im going to get Here and Im Ready to nose dive Into this...Figuratively speaking of course..So since My latter Teens were..well....Less than Smiling Material.. And Since I'm Fixing to be 21 The Writing is on the wall for me... cant See myself doing anything else For at least the next 10 years (Unless something VERY Unfortunate happens..)

So the Plan thus far is to Pay For My CDL...Get My Experience up, If it takes a Mega carrier to get me on that's Fine with me.. Live 30-45 Minutes Away From The Fort Worth Metroplex on 377 So not too worried about Finding Someone.. There are Plenty Around..

Id Like to Spend at least 3 Years Building my Experience/ Saving money every chance I can.. Sipping Faucet Water, Eating Pickled Okra and Pb&j's If that's what it takes.. Like to Start Shopping for a Truck of My own on the Tail end of the 4th Year Provided Everything goes 'somewhat' Smoothly..

Would Really Like it to be a Older Hood or a Glider.. 389,379,4900, And Relatively New... Avoiding Def-Dpf
Once I Purchase a Truck I'm doing My own Maintenance.. Plan on Keeping it as long as possible with Resale Should The worst Happen..

Steering Myself twords Flatbed Or hazmat Eventually Buying My own Trailer and Running my Own Authority.

There are opportunities In my Family From Union Crane Operator To Designing Nuclear Reactors.. And there is nothing stopping me from going those Routes.. But These Last few years gives One Plenty of time to Realize what They want out of life.

I Don't Like talking about things that are so far into the Future, Because It almost Becomes Day Dreaming to some.. But when I say I'm going to do something.. I Do everything I can To keep my word, its a Rare Quality In People these Days..

Thank You All So much for you time.

Your plan sounds resonable, no harm could certainly come from working hard and saving money. Trucking is a rough way to live, otr anyway, and not everyone is cut out for it. In the sense that some can't put up with all the bs, stress, and having no life. Wish you the best though.

Get your cdl. Figure out the more advanced goals as you go along. Get $$$$ in the bank. Skip college (I'm a college grad and I would NOT have repeated it, not worth the over priced tuition).

Having a multitude of skills is key to success. Now is a good time to start trucking. New grads start out .33 or higher.

Avoid swift and CRE (at the very least), do us all a favor and avoid them.

Re: chronic fibromyalgia, find out what the d.o.t. Says on it before you make the move to get your cdl.

Glad you're healthy and ambitious and ready to get out there. Good luck bro

I'd get that operators card if you have contacts with the union. The nuclear gig sounds like it would pay. There will always be trucking, should those first two great options not pay out.

If you go the trucking route you won't need 4 years. Getting the truck is easy. Get your first year experience with a company and then lease onto a carrier until your equipment is paid off. Stack until you pull your own numbers and roll. You could easily be pulling under your own authority at the four year mark if that is your goal. I just hit my second year since getting my CDL in May, and could easily get my own numbers in two more years if I wanted too. My truck payment is $500 a month and my trailer rent is in my percentage off line haul. I'll buy a new trailer when I pull my own numbers and have the truck paid off.

If you're ready to start dating trucking, go for it.. 4 years is long enough before you two tie the knot if that's what you want.... fair warning, it can be love/hate relationship if you let it and some times it just happens..

The good news is they Build Reactors to last 50 Years or more so its job security for anyone who is looking to get into it.

I've been watching your threads for the last few days, learning a lot from them... Hearing Your Advice Definitely Makes me eager to Get this going. Would love to find a classic 12.7 like yours with the Unibilt 60" but they seem hard to find in Decent Shape..

So I figure if I'm going to Spend the money I might as well get something that I'm Familiar with and Hope that the Newer Gliders come down on price some. Not That I have Any Problem Buying an Older Truck.

I appreciate all the Kind words, Stay Safe out there.
