I didn't go from trucking to trucking, but..........

I quit my last trucking job in 2004. I pulled containers for 2 weeks after letting go of my truck. The owner told me that he would pay $10.00 per hour for my time sitting at the sea terminals in Norfolk & Portsmouth. I got my first settlement, and there was no money for the hours I sat waiting for his loads during the two weeks. (about $250.00) He changed his story....saying that he meant that it was for local hauling, ........... not regional. He said it very sarcastically with a chuckle afterwards. Typical small container outfit scumbag. I had a feeling about the guy before I hired on......but the wife had cancer and we needed money to keep coming in.

I ended up clearing everything off his desk and was going to smack the crap outta him, but I saw his aquarium and knocked it over on the way out. He never uttered a peep.

I was was rehabbing houses 3 hours later and never looked back.

6 hours. One boss pissed me off, I walked out the door and called a guy I knew. Whiz quized, grabbed the keys and was on the road that afternoon. New boss didn't even wait on the test results. But then, he'd known me since I was a wee sprout! Best job I've ever had. To bad the guy decided to retire three months later...

Took my road test this afternoon and now heading on an out and back, road trip(in my regular car) out to CA.

Get back Monday and start on the grind Tuesday.
Things probably would've went even faster I imagine if my issue didn't occur on Labor Day.

    Which company did you choose?
I worked for Cardinal Logistics for a few months and it was a very good job. Took home over a grand a week. Only reason I left was for a better paying tanker job.

I lost my first job just before I hit one year. That afternoon I started filling out online applications and about ten days later I was in orientation with a new one.

About two weeks. Might turn out to be a nightmare though, this company is shady and I've gotten myself in some legal trouble I need to sort out before I can move on.

Lesson learned: if a company hires you quickly, there might be a reason.

    Very good advice.

Would it be possible for you to elaborate on your circumstance or would you rather not? I'm genuinely curious to know what happened or what's going on and how you ended up in that position.
