Thanks, you know, I had a friend (ex-friend) that was a county highway worker (Dane) and I told him, I always thought those pads in the road were some sort of scale, and he violently disagreed with me (hence the ex-friend) Told me I was too paranoid, and those pads monitored road temperature. I didn't buy that.

There open a lot these days, but tend to only open for about an hour, then close for two. But their in there.

Never knew why someone would go that way around, theres another way that only takes you a mile out of route.

Yaaaaa, because we need license plate readers for road temperature lol

They also have them on the north end of the Lake Butte des Morts bridge in Oshkosh. North and southbound.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me either. That's one heck of an interchange they made there. ( was a well known bottleneck for years) It's now possible to go from Milwaukee to Stevens Point without stopping. And to think of all those years I used to go up that way on 110 to 10. All 2 lane.

    rocknroll81 Thanks this.

Only thing I can figure is now they can get two Interstates with one scale, I know in the past if you really had to, a driver could go all the way on I-43 to Green Bay with no worries, but that's changed now, and ya, there are ways around that scale,

Hi xestra, that was a well known detour for years, up hy.73. I used to live not far from there (and took hy.73 many times myself) and you could always tell when the scale on 90 was open. Matter of fact, there's a sharp S turn halfway down, and there have been many truck wrecks there.

Wisconsin used to route us up 73 with oversize all the time. Crazy, those corners you mentioned, always wondered why. Then through that little town north of I think 12. Has that truck company on the east side of road.
