It would seem that the C-dolly would be more stable as it would eliminate an articulation point.. It might be a lil bit heavier, but I'm surprised it isn't more prevalent in the transportation industry.Pullin2 Thanks this.

CN rail was one of the only companies that had c-train dollies. They are a ##### to hook up. You need perfectly level ground to line both pintle hooks up. An inch out, you can't hook them.

In other words, prying your butt up off the seat?

It is MUCH more stable. It basically turned the A train into a B train and you could even back them up like a B. It never caught on or become law because of industry suits lobbying both US and CDN federal gov'nts on behalf of all the large carriers of the day ( UPS, CF, Yellow, etc ) that would have to modify or ditch hundreds of thousands of trailers and dolly's. It was cheaper to hire lobbyists.

And that was in the summer. Add snow/slush/ice .... uneven ground .... your yard had a slope ..... etc
I saw an old pup in a farm yard (storage I guess) with REAL old, faded, CP decals on it. It had two pintles on it.
I also heard that UPS experimented with C's and the drivers refused to haul them. -
It has always amazed me the power of butt muscles to hang to something in a panic situation !

I have found that if there is much weight difference, the rear trailer will sway a lot more. ALWAYS put the heavy one in front.
