"Then (in my opinion) the truck would stay in Wyoming (if it were me)...and I would tell the owner that.
Returned to origin of issuance. End of story. No abandonment."
I agree but I also want to get paid without legal intervention.

I agree but I doubt the op will receive a good reference after those two already exchanged words even if he did take trk back to Utah.Sad employers don't appreciate the work drivers have done for them when they're quitting.

Might have it somewhat resolved, manager is trying to get the owner to pay me what he owes me. If he doesn't mess with my pay, gives the manager the check along with all my paystubs, pays for the trip there I'll eat the cost back to Wyoming. His own manager is pissed at him for this ####.

In the trucking industry a 2 weeks notice is a chance to get screwed.

That sounds completely fair to all parties involved.
If he doesn't agree to that let me know as I could use a barn full of spare KW parts.producelove85 Thanks this. -
Why would you eat the trip back? Not getting paid for it is one thing, paying your own way back is another.

As bad as this is gonna sound....and as often as I discourage everyone to stop doing things for free in the industry---some times there are gonna be situations beyond your control.
The OP can take the truck to Utah and get all of the money he has earned (minus the loss on return trip), or leave the truck where it's at and get nothing, and/or even spend money on Lawyers and Courts TRYING to get money.
It's a tough call either way. If I had $700 or $800 coming to me, and would have to spend $100 of it on a rental car...I would rather do that, than sit on the couch and blow the entire amount off.
Lesson learned. Move onto better things. It sucks that drivers are constantly getting ripped off in this industry.Night Prowler Thanks this. -
Just call the labor board and do what they say. Without them on your side, your only recourse is a legal battle and you will lose even if you win. Trust me on this you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.
-
He'll be old n gray before the labor board gets anything done

Same with lawyers except he'll have to pay them. I've been in a legal battle with my previous employer since 2007. I'm winning but it feels like losing. I don't recommend it. I sued them for $100,000. I can't imagine suing over a few hundred bucks.
