Meltons pay is about average for new guys but when you think about the work for a new guy to tarp and strap or chain loads it's about 2-7 hours total for 40 bucks minus the miles you could of been running. I will never do flatbed again unless I set my own tarp fee 40 bucks is nothing for that kind of work.

I can tell you also if you want to go home every 2 weeks Melton is no the place for you. If you want to stay out for bout a month it may be very lucrative.

2-7 hours a week securing time or each load? I don't see how one load would take 7 hours to secure.

That pay just doesn't sound good at all. Why don't they pay you the full tarp fee the customer pays, but you have to own and maintain your own tarps? That seems fair. Since they are your tarps you ensure they are treated well. I guess it wouldn't work for drop and hook or relays. Hmmm.

2 to 7 hours to fully secure a load? Even a rookie shouldn't take 2 to 7 hours to fully secure a load and if it does your in the wrong line of work

I get loads like that the hardest part is the 8 foot drops since we tarp a lot of our loads . But anyway Melton is starting to run More west coast I see them often in PHX, California but hardly saw them in the northeast lots of Midwest lanes.

It certainly does take that long if you think it takes any less your blowing smoke up people's rear ends. Melton issues you 3 tarps 2 end tarps with 8 foot drops and one center tarp. The loads that took the longest were obviously 3 tarp loads that were short so you had to tuck 7 feet of tarp in and make it look decent. Now it will probably take you as a rookie 2-3 hours to tarp a 3 tarp load on a good day not including rain wind and heat. Then you have to remove them and fold them. Which is about another 1-2 hours. And all for 40 bucks it ain't worth it at all imo.

And that's not including the chaining or stealing which takes about 1-2 hours especially when you have coils

Oh I was under the impression you got $40 per tarping and another $40 for untarping.

Are these time figures with you like taking your time?
