When I was there I was drooling over the new Trucks. I wanted to lease badly but the wife wouldn't let me. I'm glad she didn't.

Well thought I would update you guys on my first day of orientation, I didn't go

Not long after my last post I met a guy hauling a large boat. After talking I called his company and applied. Long story short, I got and accepted a job offer with them. I will be mostly hauling large boats, "oversized loads". I couldn't be happier. I'm a huge fan of boats and can't wait to finally but one of my own.

As far as hometime with TransAm, plan to be flexible. Often times I had to stay out extra days to a week because the days I had originally requested were denied due to too many drivers being off the same time. I always put my new hometime request in when I got back on the truck after just finishing hometime. That way you know whether you will be going home when you want right away. Keep in mind, that for the major holidays you will need to put in months in advance. And once you do, you cannot get another hometime. You have to work all those weeks to the holiday consecutively as you can only have ONE SCHEDULED HOMETIME AT A TIME. TA employs 50 percent of their drivers for Thanksgiving, Christmas. Not sure about New Years. I think I worked all the majors except for New Years in my 54 weeks there. Fact of trucking life. Consider yourself forewarned.
