    Lol. Yeah.

Op, if your pre selecting and the range selector isn't dropping fast enough you can rebuild the tranny, or wait till you hear the clunk.

My old model was a bit sticky in the 6.
Just got used to having to jam it in.
    This one's unusually smooth

I drove a 2006 Volvo 670 with a 6th gear issue too. I would put it into 6th and it would be in neutral while in 6th gear slot I'd have to take it out of gear and put it back in to engage. I don't know what the problem was though because it was a loner. But from what boss man told me when I called him and told him that the truck was broken I remember him saying "oh yeah I forgot To tell you"

And it wasn't because of fast shifting I tried floating, I tried double clutching, I tried driving to higher revs before shifting slower splits and the problem stayed the same.

An 18 speed (brand new transmission) in a Volvo I drove did that when going into high range. If I pre selected it a few seconds in advance of moving the stick and hesitated a split second longer before putting the stick in the next gear it was fine. I think it was a lazy range synchro in the aux section. If I gave it some juice it'd synchronize and catch but it wasn't as smooth as I would have liked it.

One thing I would check is the transmission air filter. Should be in a little canister near the back of the transmission. Just follow the air lines. If its plugged it'll be lazy when going to high range. If the exhaust hole is plugged it'll be lazy going from high to low.

I agree with NM, check the tranny air filter on the rear of the trans....It'll be next to the air lines, and usually unscrews... These are notoriously neglected, until there's a "problem"....

Some posters are calling it a splitter. If this is a regular 10 speed, then it is range. I always pre-select the range while catching the high gear in the low range. Shift the stick like normal, and you shouldn't have a problem.

15s are DR range. Not a splitter.
