Mammoth Lakes along 395 at a rest area.

It sure is pretty and nice smelling up here.
It's down to about 56 degrees and it's nice not to idle for a change.

There is a sign that says 2 hour parking limit. I asked the attendant because I don't have the hours to make it anywhere else and he said it should be OK.
    I hope so.

Surprisingly I have a 4G signal up here. I really didn't expect any kind of signal.

    Sparks, NV.

I got a load earlier going to ID.
Just after I got off the phone to arrange the proper permits the load was cancelled. Oh well.

A bit later another plan comes in and it's all of 3 miles away. (Paid miles, actual miles were 17)
BT and pick up a trailer that needs repairs, and deliver it to the Sparks terminal.
What fun. But I was able to get to a Walmart on my way to pick it up, which I needed badly. My BP meds ran out yesterday, and I needed something good for dinner.

My next load is a t-called load at the terminal. I pick it up early tomorrow morning for a 1200 unload in Fresno, CA.
That's OK too, as it gives me 2,800 miles for the week.

I want something headed more east, but that will come. My next home time is in MN on the 22nd.

I finally got to my psychiatrist last Saturday and was promptly diagnosed as having a major depressive episode. My antidepressant had finally stopped working entirely, so I now I'm enjoying the pleasure of waiting for the new stuff to start working.

Rawlins, WY. After fighting winds out of the south since UT of gusts up to 30 and steady winds of 18-22 and then seeing a advisory of 50mph gusts over Elk Mountain and strong gusts all the way to Cheyenne until late tonight and early morning, I felt that Walmart can wait for their TP. Been hit with a gust once before when I came out from behind trees and was on black ice all of a sudden and did a 180 and backwards down a embankement, and you do not forget that experience. Right now here the winds are at least 24mph and gusting to 35 and I am just rocking and rolling.

Yeah ... it's getting to be that time ... my first shift as a trainee was taking over in Rawlins, up and over Elk Mountain, the first week in October .... in snow and fog.

Rest Area Rifle, CO. What a mess on I-70 and not even the weekend. Between the construction and 4 wheelers not able to read a sign that says minimum 55 in the left lane and they want to go 40-45 and the construction just before the scale, could not even make where I wanted to be today. On my way to Montebello with a can load then pick up in San Bernadino on Saturday and off the Ardmore for Tuesday. It was a smart move to stop yesterday. This morning, no wind to speak off.

It's nice to make the right decision, especially when wind is concerned.
I've seen too many trucks in the ditch because of wind.

I'm at a TA, Mills City, NV.
I had a very early start, picking up this load at 0200 in Fresno, CA.
I could have picked it up much later, but I wanted to miss the rush hour traffic through Sacramento - and in between Fresno and here.
I managed it. I don't think I ever got below 50, except for the long climb to Reno.
43k doesn't go up those hills very quickly.

I stopped at the Sparks terminal to get my new truck registration, but the printer was not responding.
Oh well, I'll get it at Inver Grove next week when I take home time.

Still, it was a nice day.
I stopped here as it was the last place within range of my hours that I had a shower credit.
The shower attendant was very helpful when I showed up, with no showers available.
I mentioned the new (vs. old) shower heads in the TA/Petro truck stops, and she said to check them out and let her know which room I wanted.
I did, and it earned her a $2 tip.

Next stop... Salt Lake City at the Costco DC.
Next destination will hopefully be picking up at the same place, and getting me further east for my home time in MN on the 22nd.

After deciding (yesterday) to extend my hometime til tomorrow Command called me this morning with an offer I couldn't refuse. Pick up this afternoon and deliver in Jeffersonville, IN Monday morning. I almost didn't make my pickup appointment as NO ONE could be bothered to send me a trailer solution. I finially called a Phoenix planner and she had an MT assigned to me within 5 minutes of my call.

Pick up went well and I'm currently at home. Will leave early tomorrow morning for a short 3 weeks out. Have to be back by Oct. 10th for jury duty, OH JOY!

Just over 4 months left on my lease, but who's counting.

Except for no hot water, and not even a coffee machine.
    It's very basic.

I hate parking at rest stops.
I had to drive nearly 3 hours before I could stop for my morning cup of coffee.
At least I didn't hit anything on the way.

I need my coffee in the morning. I'm a bear without it.
