When you say it is 5 % driver unload can you explain how the unload works. Do you use a hand cart and pallets or are you unloading a whole trailer by hand. What is the heaviest thing you have to lift ?

My wife will be riding with me a lot and am curious about having room for the 2 of us in a truck ?

I live in Kokomo , Indiana 1 hour north of Indianapolis , would I be able to take the truck home or can you tell me if you have a yard in Indiana ?

Can you give me an Idea of where I might deliver and pick up from Indianapolis area , Do they have any Dedicated routes ?

    Thanks !

Although they say 5% of loads are driver unload, I've never actually HAD to unload before. I've volunteered to do so a few times, especially in places where they're busy and there's only 3 or 4 pallets on the trailer, just so I could get done and moving. I've talked to several drivers who say our tire loads sometimes require that the driver assist in unloading, but every time I've done a tire load we paid lumpers. On those loads, you're just rolling tires out the door to the stocking crew inside. I doubt that you'll have to worry about unloading very often, and if you run into a situation where you don't think you can unload something safely, let them know and they'll figure something out. They are VERY big on drivers not getting hurt.

All of our trucks have double bunk condo sleepers, so you and your wife won't have to crowd into one bed every night. There's plenty of room for two people... Well, as much room as you can get in a semi truck anyways LOL.

Indianapolis is a pretty big freight area for us, and we have stuff coming out of there going pretty much every direction. We have a drop yard there also, but they'll work with you on parking for when you go home. They like the truck to be in a secure location, but they usually won't make you park a long way from home.

I'm not aware of any actual dedicated routes that we have. We do have a lot of freight from the same customers, but nothing runs on a regular schedule, it's all irregular freight. We might have some dedicated stuff for the people living near Normal, IL, since we have a lot of day cab trucks that run full days and return back to the terminal every night, but nothing dedicated for OTR guys.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks Captain X3 , I am checking on different carriers and would like to end up at Nussbaum but I don't even have my CDL , and no exp.
They are wanting 1 yr exp I hear but I thought I seen somewhere that they were thinking about training , have you heard anything of this ?

I am living and working in South Korea for the last 10 years and thinking about a career change. I have been working on US Military airplanes and just ready for a change. I will be 62 in December and would like to find a great company to drive for.

My wife and I will travel together and having weekends off would be a great plus , although will to drive on weekends if needed. We are just wanting to hang around Indiana with the kids and grandkids. As you see in my profile pic I have a Piper Cub airplane that we love to fly and also a new Motorcycle in the hangar to ride but been stuck here in Korea lol
Maybe I will go get cdl and get on with a company just to get my 1 year exp and then apply there because Nussbaum seems just what we are looking for.

If you hear about any training they have please let me know.

Thanks and thanks for your reply

Do they ever take anyone who just got their CDL or is the 1 year experience the only way ?

I go northeast often, not weekly, but i live in northeast PA so, i gotta.

Not much NYC, mostly just crossing the bridge but they'd rather avoid it.

They don't keep you in the area and if you don't live up there you probably will not see it much, but the dice roll of probability could play it differently.

    I probably didn't help did i?
