    Hey there!

Just joined not long ago, after having lurked in the forums without actually registering for a while now lol.

I was just curious about the application process for Old Dominion. For anyone out there that has ever applied, or is hired by Old Dominion, I would appreciate the response.

How long does the application process take? Did you go in person or do the application online?
    What is the process like?

I am interested in applying to OD soon.

    Thanks.

I have been with them since this time last year. I looked on the employment page and clicked on the link to send the terminal manager my resume. A few days later I received a phone call. I went in and filled out a simple one page application. It didn't even ask for my birthday. I got a call a few weeks later to come in for an interview. I did the interview and a about a week after that I was called for a road test and drug test. It took another two weeks to get approval from corporate. You start out at a lower wage and then work up to full scale over 3 years. I was told the raises were at 1 yr 2 yr and 3 yr and that you also got the company wide pay raise ever year. I didn't get things written down and now the rules have changed. So be careful with that if you are trying to compare your current salary and benefits with what they are offering. I forgot that part about when I went in for the road test they had me do a full application on their computer going back I believe it was 10 years.

Call in the terminal you want to work in. They'll say yea or an and for you to drop off your resume. Then they will call you. When they start hiring they call in order first come first serve. Then you do interview and application , at this point as long as ur Clean your in.

I filled out my application 1st week of November last year. Didn't hear a word until almost exactly a month later when the operations manager called me in for an interview early in December. Between the paperwork, holidays, and waiting for corporate approval, it was early February before I was hired and behind the wheel.

I was kind of surprised at the level of scrutiny during the hiring process. I was also a little surprised that since being hired I've been left pretty much alone in the sense that I've noticed very little micromanaging. Don't screw up, get your loads where they're supposed to be when they are supposed to be there, follow the rules, and they just let you do your thing.

Went online odfl website. Looked for terminals that are hiring in my area. Emailed resume to a couple locations. A day later got call from terminal mgr to schedule interview. During interview filled out a basic questionere to give terminal mgr an idea of experience you have and do you qualify. Then you schedule another appointment for two hour intense application door on computer 10 year employment and resident history, also a cdl test with DMV like questions. Then they schedule you road test and drug test. At this point then its the waiting game, for background and approval by corporate, typically 48hrs to a week for this. Then they offer you employment.
