Ok, send me a link from the FMCSA guide that specifically states that " YOU MUST LOG ON YOUR DRIVERS LOG A PRE TRIP".
I'm waiting.......Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Some companies want driver to FLAG a pre and 10-15 minute log a post. The notion we should just do away with this as a requirement is silly.
Today, it makes no sense not to do a PRE more-so then a post given all the dip-#### drivers who like to pull 5th wheels and steal marker lenses and such as you sleep.
I will do my thorough inspection whenever there is daylight if possible, be it morning or evening. I will log it how needs to be, when needs to be regardless of when I do my thorough inspection. -
Actually you wrong. If its a one truck operation then no pre or post trip is needed.
Read you FMCSA guide driver...Bean Jr. and double yellow Thank this. -
Pre trip: check tire pressure, lights, 5th wheel, open whale tail (if equipped)
Post trip: thump trailer tires, check for fluid leaks, close whale tail (if equipped)
That's how I do it. -
My post trip has always consisted of just doing paperwork, unless something is really obvious like the door is falling off or something. Though ever since I started driving I've always checked the air pressure, with a gauge-not my boot, in the tires every pre trip. Unless it's snowing, ain't nobody got time for that then
Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
I'm just the opposite I do a good post trip after driving all day why do I then need to get up in the morning and do a pre trip I dont n I just do a walk around in the morning.

I wonder if those are the same 10 drivers I see pull into the brake checks, update their logs, and then head down the hill without even leaving the cab?
-
Might be the same ones I've seen over on I-68 /Cheat mountain, between Cumberland and Morgantown.
Came through a toll booth on the Jersey turnpike years ago, attendant said hey your back wheel is smoking, oh God it's on fire!! It had been raining all day and was not able to detect any smoke from the wheel, just the twin straight pipes. Although I try to be thorough when doing a walk around a problem had came about that I didn't see. Mounting bolts on a maxi had came loose allowing the chamber to move causing the shoes to rub the drum. Always look for the little things. And take time to do so, life is more important than a dollar.Mudguppy Thanks this.
