I understand Rambler.
I made this same statement in my earlier post about agreeing to the method as an agreement that it's ok to steal from the driver.
On the other hand, I can't help thinking that because there's no "standard" in the industry, it's an area that might be exploited despite agreeing to the hhg.
It needs to be tested in court at the very least.
Neither of these attorneys has heard of anyone trying this before.
It goes untested as far as I know.
If they're willing to look at the facts, I'm willing to put the facts in front of them.
Is anyone willing to provide the facts to put in front of them?
Can't win if ya don't play.

I know Schneider pays by HHMG miles and they disclose you losing the 10% or so. However, they try to twist it to mean that YOU will lose those 10% miles by being Out Of Route, so its a cushion of some sort? lol.
Anywho...Im paid salary so I could care less.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
BobC, Very good point! And, if someone did ever challenge the very out-dated concept of HHG miles, I'm sure they would win in court. HHG miles worked just fine in the 1930s when that was their state of the art way of calculating miles. But in our modern times, it would be very interesting to see a carrier explain to a judge or jury how they can justify HHG calculations with todays sattlelite technology! It's a deliberate rip off, no matter how anybody tries to justify it! PERIOD. And, Ziggy, you should care, if for no other reason than who wants to see our fellow truckers get ripped off. It's nice you get paid salary, maybe someday you won't.

What is the difference between HUB and HHMG?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
10 to 12% is what you lose with HHMG. and some times more..Depending on the citys.
-
Is it based on any particular logic?
-
It all started with HHMG.. some have never left it... there is so much better out there right now. But as a company with HHMG will place money in their pockets.. They don't bill at HHMG. But pay the driver at HHMG miles...
So when I was on the road I logged what the trip paid.. HHMG is city limit to city limit. not quite real miles..Last edited: Jun 27, 2008

Socy, HHG miles are basically "as the crow flies" miles. Hub miles are exactly what the truck moves as per an odometer. There's a decent comprimise called "practical miles", this is generally what a software program called "pc miler" calculates. It's still not exactly real miles driven, but it's a fair comprimise. One of these days, some smart, enterprising trucker is going to take a carrier to court over HHG miles, and it's antiquated calculation methodology, and the carrier is going to lose, because it's conception was born in the 1930s when calculating miles was a very loose and inexact science. There's no justifiable excuse now to use HHG miles, with our present technology. It's just a contrived ripoff increasing profit margins of the carrier.

I would love to see this challenged in court.
