That may very well be true Stevens tells everybody in orientation what will happen, but by then its too late. Many people come hundreds of miles they're not going to pack up and head back after all what they went thru to get hired. The recruiter should send them an email in detail so the students aren't in for a surprise once they get to orientation.

Patty, when I went to Stevens, I knew Upfront, from the packet of information they send, that I would be away from home for 3 months for training... it is spelled out in the packet.

And as I stated, you have the choice to break it into two phases, and go home between phase 1 and phase 2. But that travel home and back to dallas is at your expense.

I agree with that too. However, I found many of my details about Stevens on this site, Indeed.com, Glassdoor, and The Trucking Truth. I also chose them because they were recommended by the DOT where I live for a "good" starter company. Also, it would help to go ahead and buy a FMCSR book at a local truck stop or visit a good search engine on said FMCSR regulations.

Right TLeaHeart. I got that same packet in January. You're right.

I like that, you did your research before going there. Its not 100% fool proof but checking things out is better then not checking at all.No company is perfect but its better knowing things about that company before getting there and finding out the hard way.

My apologies,I was under the impression Stevens didn't send out packets. Was this before or after you committed to driving for them?

oh ok didn't know if Stevens would send packets out unless the students committed to driving for them because of the postage, extra paper work that sort of thing.

Based on your comments are you a new driver with no experience? If you have no experience then their going to keep training you till their satisfied that your capable of doing the job. That's probably one of the biggest reasons why a lot of companies refuse to hire inexperienced drivers. Be patient you will eventually get out on your own its kind of like joining the Marines their pretty hard on you but its for a good reason. On the other hand if you are already experienced than i would agree with you they should have you out on the road as soon as possible.

I'm not passing judgement on Stevens as a company, but $350 a week for 12 weeks? No thank you very much. There are other companies that have a shorter training regimen and pay you more for it.
