If you want to unload, blow some sugar. #### is hard work.
Ps. This is me right now. Blowing a candy company. Lol.
Pps. Anybody know where I am?

I see your location is listed at Oley, PA, so I'm guessing Hershey?

I was hired by Pepsi in Albuquerque with less than 2 months of experience - but that was almost 8 years ago. It might be that they prefer 1 year, but it's up to the local distributor to actually enforce that. Also, as a former Pepsi driver.....that industry tends to have decent turnover because not a lot of drivers want to hump around 10000 cases of product every day. In the short time I did it, I developed arthritis in my hands, lower back problems, and since we're in the desert out here, it wasn't uncommon to have heat stroke in the summer. I was running a route with one of the female drivers before the Labor Day holiday and I ended up calling 911 for her when she passed out in a gas station parking lot and wasn't responsive.
There are a lot of reasons most "experienced" drivers don't want to do jobs where you load and unload your trailer. I just did 4 years with a construction company and I loaded and unloaded all kinds of heavy equipment. Ended up with Sciatica and lower back issues that still plague me, and I may have either torn the rotator cuff in my right shoulder or I may have arthritis starting there, too. My doctor isn't entirely sure, but all that came from years of throwing chains and binders after a few more years of running a tank wagon fuel truck for another construction company where I had to run 100' of 2" hose full of diesel to the various earthmoving equipment amongst other duties and that was preceded by slinging Pepsi. So after all that, I have lingering hand, back, leg, and shoulder issues that will likely be there the rest of my life and I'm only 35 - I got my CDL when I was 27.Milkman719 Thanks this. -
i did that too...for THREE NIGHTS..but it was for fueling road trucks and stationary construction equipment. it was my first time at that type of job, trying to learn what to do......and i just didn't want to give up after the first night, since i knew the guy that hired me.
no way in hell was i gonna be slinging that heavy hose for a long time, like the guy who i was sent with, to train me.. -
I did that for almost 2 years....
That kind of job can go #### itself now.
G.Anthony Thanks this. -
The nice thing about unloading that I like is the exercise. Since I have been unloading I dropped my Cholesterol and weight. I do worry about arthritis and my muscles are sore some times.

And that's fine ... so long as you do this work "On Duty" on your logs, accurately and truthfully. This sort of work (physical labor) wears on a person. We have enough "tired drivers" out here already, so to add in a bunch who wear themselves out on the dock, then proceeed to drive 8-10 hours is not something I can get excited about.
