I see them advertising a position for Amazon in San Antonio, TX. We have a big DC out in Schertz, north of the city. They claim its a home more than weekly position, which has piqued my interest.
I am really struggling with the local work in San Antonio since the oilfields went bust. The jobs either pay too low and/or they screw with you on hours. Interviewer will tell you its 55 per week and you struggle to get 40. Or they'll tell you in M-F and its turns into Monday thru Saturday and twice on Sunday. Or the job just simply doesn't cut you a check???
I've grown tired of it and this Amazon gig sounds decent, if it really does exist. Y'all know if they did indeed lose their contract in TX? I would hate to switch jobs (yet again) for another bait and switch at orientation.

amazon just opened a big warehouse in DFW, I've also seen job postings for it for SNI. in fact, here's a link...

If amazon is anything like the rumors i hear of people working inside, it's very cut throat. the guy i spoke to said they give you "quotas" and if you don't make it once, you're fired.
I can't speak to the validity of that, however, because this was also the type of guy that needed to add 12, 32 times to figure out how many inches were in 32 feet. Literally, I saw him writing it all down on paper... while he was texting on his smartphone.... "smart"phone...

The Amazon locations I know we lost were in KY and TN. We may have the ones in Texas. I never go down there.

Another reason why the south sucks!!!

If they let a carrier with service issues keep an account, those issues would only get worse... -
SNI still has lots of Amazon accounts on the intermodal side, last I heard we just got one of JB Hunts Amazon contracts. Lots of Amazon fulfillment centers here in SoCal, I pull an Amazon load almost once or twice a day sometimes

The Amazon account is alive and well in Texas. The recruiter told me 47 cpm with my verified experience and an average of 2000 miles a week.
They were pretty vague about the more than weekly home time, would just say 1-2 times per week but wouldn't indicate if that included your weekend 34 hour reset or not.
Schedule was Monday thru Saturday, or Sunday thru Thursday. Still deciding what I'm gonna do. It sounds nice but I need to think about this t some more.
